Week 5
According to IrishCentral.com volcanoes actually pose no real threat to anyone in the country at all. However, there have been numerous volcanic eruptions throughout the history of Ireland. Ireland is surrounded by volcanoes, but they are all extinct, which is why they don’t actually pose any real danger to society. A lot of hills and towns that are in the country actually were formed from the remains of extinct volcanoes. For example, Croghan Hill and The Hill of Allen were formed from volcanoes that last erupted 200 million years ago.
Since Ireland doesn’t really have a volcanic threat pretty much anywhere, there are no measures or warnings on what to do if such things occur. The chances of Ireland getting hit with a volcanic eruption, are slim to none.

Hi Micayle,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post. It was interesting to read about Ireland and how a lot of hills and towns of the country were formed from the remains of the volcanos. It is good news that Ireland has extinct volcanos so it does not pose any threat and harm to the community.
Hello! It is very fortunate for Ireland that it does not have any volcanoes. They are quite beautiful but as the saying goes, every rose has it's thorn. Volcanoes actually have many thorns, very destructive thorns that one has to actively avoid upon eruption. It is pretty cool that some towns are in the remains of ancient volcanoes. It makes me wonder the newest inland volcano resides.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are in the same boat, with Germany not really being threatened by any of the volcanoes within itself or the surrounding areas. Many of the regions were made by volcanic eruptions as well, such as the Siebengebirge region!
